Definition Lists

Definition lists are a cool HTML formatting tool. I am using one here to indent this text from the heading directly above. As the name implies, they are intended for lists of terms and definitions, but you may find them useful for formatting dialogue, FAQ’s or other uses. The basic format is:

 <dl>
 <dt> Term 1
 <dd> Definition 1
 <dt> Term 2
 <dd> Definition 2
 </dl>

Example 1: A Definition

Python Head

A fan of the British comedy troupe Monty Python. Python heads can be recognized by their ability to recite entire skits from memory, and by their fascination with Killer Rabbits and deceased Norwegian Blue parrots. Python heads often say things like "It’s just a scratch!" and "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"

Example 2: Dialogue

Mr. Praline

Never mind that, my lad. I wish to complain about this parrot what I purchased not half an hour ago from this very boutique.

Owner

Oh yes, the, uh, the Norwegian Blue...What's,uh...What's wrong with it?

Mr. Praline

I'll tell you what's wrong with it, my lad. 'E's dead, that's what's wrong with it!

Owner

No, no, 'e's uh,...he's resting.

Mr. Praline

Look, matey, I know a dead parrot when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now.
